Benefitting Your Pet & Our Community

Our team firmly believes spay and neuter surgeries are important for the safety, quality of life and longevity of your special family pet. We are careful to consider all the factors that make your pet unique before determining the ideal timeframe for surgery. Here, we base our surgical care on the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommendations.

Cats - AAHA endorsed "Fix Felines by Five" initiative

Dogs - AAHA Canine Life Stage Guidelines

Our goal is to help your pet family benefit as much as possible from their spay or neuter procedure. Some examples of benefits:

Ovarian And Uterine Cancers

Reduced risk of ovarian, uterine and mammary cancers in females

Prevention Of Pyometra

Prevention of pyometra (infection of the uterus)

Prostate And Testicular Cancers

Prevention of testicular cancer in males

Roaming Prevention

Reducing or preventing your pet’s likelihood of roaming in search of a mate

Reduced Vocalizing

Reducing or preventing disruptive vocalizing

Reduce Spraying

Spaying and neutering also benefits the greater community by keeping the stray animal population under control and reducing crowding in animal shelters by limiting pet overpopulation.

t’s important to support your pet in their recovery. To heal properly and avoid infection. Our surgical care team will provide you with detailed instructions for success.

Tips to follow:

  • Restrict activity - no running, jumping, roughhousing with other pets, or climbing flights of stairs for 2 weeks
  • Prevent incision site trauma - a special fitted e-collar may be necessary, but also be sure other “friends” at home do not "help cleanse” their surgery site
  • Keep the incision site clean and dry at all times
